Artisti: Christ phyr Blyr |
|
| Siksi onkin huomattavan ikävä
todeta, että levyn teokset eivät lainkaan kosketa. Ne eivät
yksinkertaisesti ole millään tavalla kiinnostavia. Lisäksi
vokaaliosuuksien käytöstä ja palasten rytmityksistä
näkee kirkkaasti miten paljon mahtavampaa tavaraa artisti olisi kyennyt
luomaan. Varsinkin Terrible Things on tästä erinomainen
esimerkki. Noiseambient-raita Gummer's Howe korostaa vaikutusta
vielä entisestään, koska se muita tasapainoisempana ja hillitympänä
nousee selvästi erottumaan edukseen massasta vaikka ei olekaan genren
suurimpien artistien tasoa. On vain pakko todeta, että Christ phyr
Blyr sortuu kokeellisen musiikin pahimpaan sudenkuoppaan: materiaali on
hyvin tehtyä, mutta mitäänsanomatonta.
Teknisesti onnistunutta mutta tylsää. Jiituomas |

What we have here is an album's worth of quite clinical cut-up noise by Christopher Byler. The parts used have been quite thoroughly thought about, so there is a scratching-like feel to them. The tone, too, is quite right, so the whole thing has a "planned pandemonium" like quality, not evoking the fear that it's all just random or chaos software -produced, which often rises when one hears music from this genre. Thus it is highly unpleasant to note that the tracks aren't moving in any way. They simply are not at all interesting. Plus the use of vocals and the inherent rhythm structure of the compositions make it obvious that the artist could have created something far more powerful instead. Terrible Things is an especially clear example of this. The effect is further emphasized by the noise ambient track Gummer's Howe, because it is distinct in style, far more balanced and restrained, making it stand out despite it not being exactly on the level of the best noise ambient artists' works. I simply must say that Christ phyr Blyr has fallen into the worst pit in all of experimental music: his stuff is well made, but completely insignificant. Technically successful, but boring.
