Kolmosraidalla Nigr
Prayers on Fire on yhä
hillitympi, ja sisältää lähinnä erilaista huminaa
ja piipitystä joista siirtyy sitten säröisempään
suuntaan.
Viimeisenä soiva The Streaming
Jiituomas |

From these two artists, both being among Finland's key industrial musicians, one gets exactly what can be expected: noise-ambient. Damn fine noise-ambien that flows onward, swirling and adapting subtly but decisively. The first two tracks on this disc are both pure wall, of the kind that works both as background and as a loud centerpiece of attention. They both seem to contain a lot more changes than they do, as for example tiny breaks in some sounds make them feel as if the tone frequency changes while it actually does not. On Nigr, the third track, the pace becomes slower, and despite the noise there is a new "broken choral" feel to the music. Prayers on Fire is even more restrained, containing mostly different sorts of humming and beeping, from which it then moves to a more distorted sound. It is the album's definite weakest point, though not at all a bad track per se. The final piece, The Streaming Serpent, is slow and heavy, in a manner where one almost expects it to transform from (nicely) dragging speech-mess into a full blast, but that blast never comes. The quality of the work throughout the album is as good as can be, on both composition and playing as well as tones. This is, bluntly put, as good as stuff can get in this genre. If you're at all into noise ambient, this album's a must. Jiituomas |
