Furking is an extended re-issue of a tape published in the mid-90's. It begins with the two extra tracks made in 2006, which in no way stand out from the rest as far as musical style is concerned. This three-person band is mostly known as one of the side projects of Mathias Josefson (Moljebka Pvlse), but it has a definite style of its own. It's noise, quite restrained noise at that, and sparse, but in no way laptop-clinical. There is a clear feel of artificiality, of not being organic, present throughout the album, but that fits the whole. I would personally classify Furking as something between sound art and music, a meeting point of thin art noise, slow rhythms and full backgrounds.

Lurk is a very interesting experience, as it has the feel of a time gone by (in a bad sense) and the feel of taking place right now (in the good sense). And even when it's retro in the bad way, it's still structurally and rhythmically highly intriguing. So if uncommon, somewhat weird and a bit leaning towards pop noise sounds interesting to you, get this before it vanishes from the market again.

Furking on laajennettu uusintajulkaisu 90-luvun puolivälissä ilmestyneestä kasetista, täydennettynä kahdella alkuun sijoitetulla lisäraidalla vuodelta 2006 (jotka eivät erotu tyylillisesti muista juuri lainkaan). Tämä kolmen hengen yhtye tunnetaan lähinnä eräänä Mathias Josefsonin (Moljebka Pvlse) sivuprojekteista, mutta tyyli on kyllä aivan omaa. Musiikki on noisea, mutta aika hillittyä sellaista, ja karua, mutta ei missään tapauksessa laptop-kliinistä. Selkeä keinotekoisuus, ei-orgaanisuus on läsnä kautta linjan, mutta tähän pakettiin se sopii. Itse luonnehtisin Furkingia lähinnä äänitaiteen ja musiikin välimuodoksi, jossa ohut taidenoise kohtaa hitaat rytmit ja täyteläiset taustat. Lurk on hyvin kiehtova kokemus, sillä se on yhtä aikaa pahasti menneiltä vuosilta kuulostava ja täysin ajankohtainen. Ja silloinkin kun se on huonolla tavalla retro, on se rakenteellisesti ja rytmillisesti äärimmäisen kiinnostava. Jos siis tavallisesta poikkeava, hieman outo ja aavistuksen popimpi noise kiinnostaa, tähän kannattaa tutustua ennen kuin se katoaa markkinoilta. Jiituomas
